The National Investigative Agency (NIA) chargesheeted four members of the Communist Party of India (Maoist) for abducting and killing a Maharashtra youth for allegedly being a police informer and a member of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), according to an official statement released on Friday (January 3, 2024). The arrest happened months after the case was taken over by NIA in October 2024.
The arrested persons namely, Doba Wadde, Ravi Pallo, Sattu Mahaka and Komati Mahaka were accused of allegedly abducting and murdering Dinesh Pusus Gawde in November 2023. Mr. Gawde was murdered allegedly because he was suspected of being a member of the RSS and a police informer, the statement read. The NIA officials also said that the act was also aimed at allegedly threatening villagers against sharing any information about naxal movements with security forces. The NIA said that the accused persons were active members of the CPI(Maoist) and they had already committed crimes allegedly to spread terror in the minds of local villagers.
The case was first registered at the Dhobraj police station by the Gadchiroli police and the accused persons were arrested by the latter. Gadchiroli police also seized a bharmar gun, explosives and “incriminating materials” which were found in possession.
