Sumit Chaudhary was attacked outside his house in Gamri Extension

New Delhi:

The police said that a team of the crime branch was tasked to trace Neeraj Solanki

New Delhi:

A Delhi man has been arrested for allegedly killing his two new-born daughters and burying them, the police said on Wednesday. Neeraj Solanki allegedly wanted a son and was upset about the birth of twin daughters. He had been on the run since the alleged murder on June 3. He was arrested from Haryana.

Pooja Solanki, who lives in Delhi’s Sultanpuri with her husband Neeraj Solanki, gave birth to twin girls at a hospital in Haryana’s Rohtak on May 30.

“The accused was evading arrest in Delhi and Haryana by changing his locations regularly,” the police said in an official statement. Neeraj Solanki, 32, has been charged with murder after his wife complained to the police.

How Police Probe Began

The police said they began investigating after receiving a call at the Sultanpuri police station on June 3 about the “murder” of the two babies.

The caller said his brother-in-law had killed his 3-day-old twin girls and buried them at a crematorium, the police said.

“After that, police staff was deployed at the cremation ground where the children were buried and permission was taken from the concerned SDM (Sub Divisional Magistrate) to exhume the corpses. On June 5, the corpses were exhumed and preserved at a mortuary in Mangolpuri. On June 6, we conducted a post-mortem. The bodies were handed over to their maternal uncle,” they said.

How Neeraj Solanki Was Caught

A team of the crime branch was tasked with tracing Neeraj Solanki, a Delhi University graduate who survived on rent from his properties.

The police launched surveillance and also drew inputs from local sources.

The police analysed call data and noticed that Neeraj Solanki was changing his mobile handset, SIMs and hideouts frequently to dodge the police.

After raids at various places in Delhi and Haryana, Neeraj Solanki was eventually arrested from Sampla in Rohtak.

During interrogation, he confessed to the murders, the police said.

Her body was found near a government school in Delhi (Representational)

New Delhi:

A man has been arrested in connection with the killing of a Swiss woman, whose body was found in West Delhi’s Tilak Nagar area on Friday, the police said. The body of the woman, identified as Lena Berger, was found near a government school on Friday morning – half covered with a black garbage disposal plastic bag.

The police have arrested a person named Gurpreet Singh in the case.

According to police sources, the accused met the woman in Switzerland after which both of them became friends.

Gurpreet, who often used to go to Switzerland to visit Berger, suspected that she was having a relationship with another man, police sources said.

Gurpreet then made a plan to murder Berger and asked her to visit India, according to Delhi Police sources.

Upon Gurpreet’s request, Berger landed in India on October 11.

Five days later, Gurpreet took the victim to a room, tied her hands and legs, and killed her. Initially, he kept Berger’s body in a car which he bought with the ID of a woman. However, when a foul smell started coming from the car, he threw her body on the road and fled from the spot.

Delhi Police reportedly traced Gurpreet after getting the vehicle’s registration number with the help of the CCTV footage. They seized the car in which the body was kept and another four-wheeler that belonged to Gurpreet.

They also recovered Rs 2.25 crore from Gurpreet’s house.

Police indicate the killing follows a fight that took place last year.

New Delhi:

A 20-year-old man was stabbed to death by eight attackers in Delhi’s Sangam Vihar on Saturday night.

Shocking CCTV visuals show the 20-year-old surrounded by his killers and dragged down a narrow street as they stab and kick him in a blind fury. The horrific assault continues for several seconds – even as over half-a-dozen eyewitnesses, including several on two-wheelers, stand by and do nothing.

As the minute-long CCTV clip plays out, some of the attackers break off and watch as four of them drag their victim back down the street while continuing their savage attack.

Thirty seconds into the clip – it is unclear how long the attack went on before it was caught on camera – the teen is pushed to the side of the road, and his bloodied shirt reveals the multiple stab wounds.

Police Case Filed

Police were alerted after staff at the Majeedia Hospital said they had admitted a patient – identified as Dilshad, a resident of the area – who had been assaulted with a knife and was in “critical condition”.

Authorities rushed to the hospital and found Dilshad being treated for multiple stab injuries on his chest and other parts of his body. He was on a ventilator to assist in breathing and was swiftly referred to the Delhi government-run Safdarjung Hospital for better treatment. He was not able to give a statement.

However, a police case was filed on the basis of information provided by the hospital and eight suspects – all minors – were taken into custody. All are also residents of Sangam Vihar.

Initial inquiries have revealed the murder followed a fight that took place last year.

The police have registered a case and are on the lookout to track down the accused.

New Delhi:

A 38-year-old man was beaten to death with bricks on Friday when he tried to save his son from a group of boys in Delhi, police said. The incident took place in the Sanjay Colony area, Okhla Phase Two.

The victim, Mohammad Hanif, worked as a porter. According to the police, his two minor sons were also injured in the clash.

It was 11:00 PM on Friday night when Mr Hanif’s 14-year-old son went outside to get his bike which was parked in a street. He found a group of four or five boys sitting on it, blocking his way. He asked them to move, but they refused. An argument ensued which quickly escalated into a brawl.

Mr Hanif heard the commotion and ran outside to see what was happening. He saw his son being attacked by the boys and tried to help. However, the boys turned on him and started beating him with bricks.

Responding to an SOS call, a police team quickly reached the spot and admitted the victim to AIIMS’ trauma centre where the doctors declared him dead.

The police have registered a case and are on the lookout to track down the accused.

The incident comes at a time when the national capital has been turned into a fortress for the 18th G20 Leaders’ Summit. Over 50,000 personnel along with dog squads and mounted police have been deployed to keep a close watch on the city during the summit.

Security has been tightened across the national capital in preparation for the two-day meeting of top world leaders, including US President Joe Biden and UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, among others.
