Mumbai:

A 30-year-old Arabic teacher has been arrested in Maharashtra’s Beed city for allegedly raping an 11-year-old girl who attended his tuition, police said.

The accused (name not disclosed to protect the victim’s identity) taught Urdu and Arabic to children at his home, said inspector A K Mudliyar of Pethbeed police station.

He allegedly raped the girl many times after other students left and also subjected her to unnatural sex, the official told PTI.

The crime came to light when the girl complained of stomach pain and the doctor realized that she had faced sexual assault.

The girl told her parents that the teacher was sexually abusing her for the last three months and had warned her not to tell anyone about it, the police officer said.

“We have registered an FIR under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for rape, unnatural sex, and also under relevant sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO). Further investigation is underway,” inspector A K Mudliyar said.

Palghar:

Police on Sunday arrested a 42-year-old man for allegedly raping a 12-year-old girl in his neighbourhood in Maharashtra’s Palghar district, an official said.

Accused Rama Ganpat Bhoir, a resident of Tarapur, allegedly committed the crime on Saturday afternoon, he said.

Bhoir entered the girl’s home when she was alone and raped her. He fled from the spot after she raised an alarm.

After being informed by her about the sexual assault, the girl’s parents filed a police complaint, the official said.

Police have registered a case against Bhoir under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) section 64 (rape) and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, the official said.

Thane:

A 28-year-old man was arrested from Jogeshwari in Mumbai for allegedly raping a woman repeatedly and also forcing her to abort a pregnancy, a Thane police official said on Sunday.

Riyasat Illias Qureshi befriended the 24-year-old victim and raped her several times between February 2022 and January this year on the promise of marriage, the Rabodi police station official said.

“She filed a complaint after the accused, who is a tailor, refused to marry her,” he said.
