Jaipur:

A man allegedly killed his wife here on Sunday and later attempted suicide by consuming poison, police said.

Assistant Commissioner of Police (South) Sanjay Sharma said the incident took place in Jaipur’s Gayatri Nagar area under the Shipra Path police station limits.

Due to a mutual dispute, Vishnu Gupta (48) allegedly killed his wife Sarita Gupta (45) by attacking her with a hammer and later drank some poisonous chemical to kill himself, Sharma said.

However, Vishnu was rescued and admitted to a hospital for treatment where his condition is said to be stable, he added.

Based on a complaint lodged by the brother of the woman, a case has been registered against the accused, the ACP said, adding that the body has been handed over to the woman’s family after postmortem.

Nagpur:

The Nagpur police arrested a 30-year-old man for allegedly killing his wife over the suspicion that she was cheating on him, an official said today.

Dilpreet, alias Vicky Kulwinder Singh Virk, allegedly fatally attacked his wife Mannat Kaur, alias Meenu Virk (24), at their home in the Dixit Nagar area last night, he said.

The official said Mannat Kaur had earlier moved to her parent’s home and filed a police complaint against her husband after the two fought over his suspicion that she was having an extramarital affair.

She went back to live with him after the police intervened, he said.

On Tuesday, Dilpreet allegedly hit Mannat with a heavy object, killing her. Dilpreet fled the scene but was arrested from a local bar around 3 am today, he said.

He has been charged under Section 302 (murder) of the Indian Penal Code, he added.

Kapurthala, Punjab:

 Hours after returning home from Italy, an NRI man allegedly killed his wife by repeatedly thrashing her head on the floor of their house in a village here, police said on Tuesday.

Kapurthala Senior Superintendent of Police Vatsala Gupta said the non-resident Indian identified as Sukhdev Singh returned to his house in Sandhu Chatha village from Italy on Monday.

On the same day, he had a heated argument with his wife Harpreet Kaur (45) over some issue, the SSP said.

Singh dragged Kaur to his room and allegedly thrashed her head repeatedly on the floor, killing her on the spot, he added.

The police said a case has been registered against the absconding accused and efforts are on to nab him.

New Delhi:

A 38-year-old woman was allegedly stabbed by her husband in northwest Delhi’s Mangolpuri area, police said on Sunday.

On Thursday, information was received at Mangolpuri police station that Mangolpuri resident Seema Jha was admitted to Sanjay Gandhi hospital after getting injured in a quarrel with her husband, Deputy Commissioner of Police (outer) Harendra Singh said.

Police reached the hospital where Seema was found unfit for the statement and no eyewitness was present there. The woman succumbed to injuries on Saturday, police said.

Initially, the victim’s husband Ajeet Jha was apprehended and a case under section 307 (attempt to murder) of the IPC was registered against him, the DCP said.

Following Seema’s death, Ajeet was booked under section 302 (murder) of the IPC and he was sent to judicial custody, Singh said.

According to police, a heated argument broke out between the couple during which Ajeet stabbed Seema.

Two stabbing wounds were found on the woman’s stomach. A kitchen knife which was used in the crime has also been seized and further probe is on, they said.
