Yashashree Shinde was a resident of Uran and used to work in Belapur, about 25 km away.

Mumbai:

The main accused in the murder case of a 20-year-old girl in Maharashtra’s Navi Mumbai last week has been arrested, police said today.

Dawood Shaikh was arrested from Karnataka’s Gulbarga district.

The victim, Yashashree Shinde, had been reported missing, and her body was found dumped in the bushes near a railway station in Navi Mumbai’s Uran on Saturday.

According to officials, the body bore multiple injury marks and stab wounds, indicating that she was murdered very brutally.

“Our initial investigation suggests the woman was murdered after a love affair went wrong. The girl’s boyfriend had also gone missing with the girl and is yet to be found. He is the primary suspect. A case of murder has been registered and five police teams have been formed to trace him,” an official had said.

She was a resident of Uran and used to work in Belapur, about 25 km away.

Earlier, a man, identified as Mohsin from Karnataka, was taken into custody by the Navi Mumbai police. Police got information from phone call details that he was in constant contact with Yashashree.

They are investigating his connection with the main accused.

Mohsin is likely to be brought to Uran today for further interrogation.

The FIR was registered following the receipt of laboratory reports (Representational)

Thane:

A case has been registered against two individuals for allegedly handling and storing a hazardous petroleum product without proper permits in Navi Mumbai’s Uran town, police said on Wednesday.

The FIR was filed on Tuesday at the Uran police station under provisions of the Essential Commodities Act and Petroleum Rules against the accused identified as Anmolsingh Sethi and Kavishi Singh, they said, adding the product’s stock worth nearly Rs 14 lakh was also seized.

The duo had handled and stored process oil 40, a highly inflammable substance, without permission from relevant authorities at a parking area in Uran in April, said the police.

The FIR was registered following the receipt of laboratory reports confirming the hazardous nature of the substance.

The police seized the petroleum product’s stock valued at Rs 13.80 lakh, along with a container truck and other vehicles worth Rs 21.40 lakh, according to the police.

The accused handled the hazardous chemical despite lacking the necessary permits and being aware of the potential risks to human safety due to the highly inflammable nature of the substance, they said.

The police have file a case (Representational)

Thane:

A 29-year-old man from Navi Mumbai has allegedly been cheated of Rs 20.22 lakh after being lured by fraudsters with an online job offer promising lucrative returns, police said on Sunday. The Navi Mumbai cyber police have registered an FIR in this connection against four persons, they said.

The accused contacted the victim, hailing from Ghansoli in Navi Mumbai, between October 5 and 10 through a Telegram ID and WhatsApp and offered him a pre-paid online task promising lucrative returns. They also asked him to make payments in certain accounts, a cyber cell official said quoting the complaint.

The victim did the job and also made payments worth Rs 20,22,444. After completing the task, when he sought a refund of the amount paid and also returns for the work completed by him, the accused gave evasive replies, the police said.
