The car owner has appealed to Noida traffic police to investigate this matter and revoke his fine.

Rampur, UP:

A man who claims that he has never been to Uttar Pradesh’s Gautam Buddh Nagar district in his car, has been slapped with a fine of Rs 1,000 by Noida police for driving the vehicle without a helmet.

Tushar Saxena initially received a text message informing him about the fine but he ignored it, thinking it to be a mistake. However, things became serious when this was followed by an email and another message. The car owner – who lives in Rampur district, some 200 km from Noida – contacted the traffic police and was told that he was fined for driving his four-wheeler vehicle without a helmet.

Latest and Breaking News on NDTV

Police told him that if he fails to pay the amount then he will have to appear in court.

“The challan was issued on November 9, 2023. If you are violating traffic rules, then it is common to receive a fine but that is not my case. I have never driven my car to the NCR area. And if there’s any rule that says we have to wear a helmet inside a car, then the authorities must give this to me in writing,” Mr Saxena said.

Mr Saxena said he bought his car in March last year and got the vehicle’s registration transferred from Ghaziabad to Rampur.

He has appealed to Noida traffic police to investigate this matter and revoke his fine.

A similar case happened in Jhansi when the city’s traffic police fined a man Rs 1,000 for not wearing a helmet while driving his Audi car. Bahadur Singh Parihar, a resident of Jhansi’s Nandu colony, approached traffic police officials, but was told they would look into the matter after the ongoing Lok Sabha election is over.

Until then, Mr Parihar wore a bike helmet while driving to avoid more fines.

All six arrested members had a different role in the gang’s work.

Noida:

Noida Police have arrested six members of a notorious tech-savvy inter-state gang involved in the theft of four-wheel vehicles, officials said on Monday.

The police revealed that the gang employed sophisticated methods to carry out the thefts and used key programming pads ordered online to reprogram the vehicle’s ECM (Electronic Content Management) system.

This allowed the gang to generate new key modes to create duplicate keys and break into a car within 5 to 10 minutes, the police said.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Noida) Ram Badan Singh said the operation, under the supervision of Additional DCP Manish Mishra and ACP (Noida-3) Shavya Goyal, resulted in the recovery of 10 stolen vehicles and various tools used in the thefts.

The arrests were made near Bharat Hospital on the FNG Road under the Sector 113 police station limits, he said.

“The gang members were held while they were on their way to lift more vehicles. During interrogation, we have got a lot of data from the gang. We will verify it and it could lead to the recovery of more vehicles,” Singh said.

“Besides the 10 recovered cars, they have been involved in several other vehicle thefts. We will try to get them in our custody and crack those cases as well,” he told reporters.

All six arrested members had a different role in the gang’s work. Sonu is technically very sound and could hack the electric system of vehicles quickly. There is one who can make duplicate keys, and some involved in sales of the stolen vehicles, Singh said.

He said the gang would supply vehicles “on demand” and call their customer to Delhi NCR itself for the deals even though their clientele goes as far as Tamil Nadu, too.

The police identified those held as Khaleel, Monu Kumar, Sonu, Rajesh Kakkad alias Raja alias Raju, Ali Sher alias Imran alias Ali, and Pramod, who were caught with an assortment of stolen items.

These included 19 keys from different car companies, two clips, a wire cutter, a plier, three L-key lock breakers, four screwdrivers, a lock set, two key programming pads, two connecting cables, 12 number plates, and six fake registration certificates (RCs), the police said.

The police revealed that the gang operated across multiple states, including Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Haryana, and Maharashtra. They specialized in stealing four-wheel vehicles and selling them at various locations across the country.

“The arrested individuals are part of a cunning gang that is active in Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, and other states,” a police spokesperson stated.

“They steal four-wheel vehicles from different regions and sell them at desired rates in various parts of the country,” the spokesperson said.

After stealing the vehicles, the gang would remove the number plates and park the vehicles in safe or secluded places for two-three days. They were knowledgeable about vehicle mechanics and used fake documents and number plates to avoid detection while transporting the stolen vehicles, the police said.

Members of the gang would drive ahead to alert police about checkpoints, and in case of sudden police presence, they would pretend to fix a mechanical problem with the vehicle, they said.

All accused in the case have a history of multiple criminal cases in various states, according to an official statement.

For instance, Khaleel has multiple cases registered against him, including charges under the Gangster Act and various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) related to theft and fraud. Sonu also faces several charges in Delhi and Noida for theft and related crimes, while Monu Kumar has a long list of cases against him in Delhi and Haryana, it stated.

Among the recovered vehicles are a Toyota Fortuner, multiple Hyundai Creta cars, a Brezza, a Tata Sumo Gold, and several Maruti cars. The police also confiscated tools used for breaking locks and making duplicate keys, fake number plates, and forged registration certificates, it added.

The gang members have been booked on charges of theft, dishonestly receiving stolen property, assisting in the concealment of stolen property and using a false property mark, the police said, adding further legal proceedings are underway.

Nainital Bank’s IT manager filed a complaint with the police (File)

New Delhi:

In a major cyber heist, over Rs 16 crore was cleaned out of Nainital Bank’s Noida branch after its servers were hacked and money was transferred to 89 different accounts.

Cybercriminals entered the bank’s Real Time Gross Settlement, or RTGS, channel by hacking the manager’s login credentials and wiped out Rs 16.5 crore between June 16 and June 20.

The bank’s IT manager, Sumit Kumar Srivastava, went to the cyber crime police station and filed a complaint. The balance sheet was being tallied for June when the heist was noticed, Mr Srivastava said in his complaint.

On June 17, the balance sheet was found short of Rs 3,60,94,020 during a regular audit of the RTGS, the complaint said, adding that the fraud was revealed when they could not match the balance sheet for several days.

“A case has been registered by the IT manager of the Nainital Bank. He said that about Rs 16.5 crore was withdrawn by hacking the manager’s credentials and the bank’s server. This happened between June 16 and June 20. The money was transferred to 89 accounts. A team has been formed to probe the matter,” ACP Cyber Crime Vivek Ranjan Rai told NDTV.

Noida:

The Gautam Buddh Nagar Police have suspended all police personnel stationed at the Chipiyana ‘chowki’ in Greater Noida West over the death of a youth under mysterious circumstances while being in police custody.

The youth reportedly hanged him inside the chowki, however, his family and relatives have accused the policemen of pressurizing him to take the extreme step.

Sensing the gravity of the situation, Additional CP (Law and Order) and DCP Central rushed to the Chipiyana chowki in the Bisrakh police station area.

After the officials got a first-hand account of the suspicious death, Police Commissioner Laxmi Singh announced the suspension of the entire staff of the police chowki. Further, a complaint is also lodged, taking into account the series of events leading to the youth’s death.

According to DCP, Central Noida, the victim has been identified as Yogesh Kumar, a resident of Aligarh. He worked at a local workshop in Chipiyana area. Kumar on Wednesday night was brought to the chowki for questioning after allegations were made against him by a colleague

On Thursday morning at around 10 a.m., he reportedly committed suicide by hanging himself inside the police barrack. Though the exact reason for the suicide is yet to be ascertained, Kumar’s family have levelled serious allegations against the policemen.

Talking to media persons, the family claimed that Rs 5 lakh was sought for Kumar’s release. “I gave them Rs 50,000 and also Rs 1,000 for buying liquor. I was there at the chowki in the night. I told them that I would give the remaining Rs 4.5 lakh by morning. The policemen told me that they will release my brother after receiving money,” Kumar’s brother said, adding that the next morning, “my brother was killed by policemen”.

The body bore injury marks around its neck, leading to a suspicion of murder.

Noida:

Three people, including a woman, were arrested here on Tuesday for allegedly killing a 57-year-old contractor inside his house, police said.

The police said the victim, Shashi Sharma, was allegedly in an illicit relationship with the wife of the key accused who was in good terms with him until two years ago.

According to the police, Mr Sharma’s body was found inside his rented accommodation in the Janata Flats in Sector 40 on Monday morning. The body bore injury marks around its neck, leading to a suspicion of murder.

DCP (Noida) Harish Chander said three accused, identified as Bharat Chauhan, his wife Seema Devi and Raja Tiwari, have been arrested for the alleged murder by a team led by ACP Rajneesh Verma.

“During investigation it came to light that Bharat and Sharma had come in contact in 2021, and both started living in the same neighbourhood. However, after sometime the same year, Bharat once found Sharma and his wife in an objectionable condition at his house. Later, he relocated to another house,” Mr Chander told reporters.

“Recently Bharat came to know that his wife and Sharma are still in contact, after which he confronted his wife who apologised for her actions,” the officer said.

Meanwhile, Bharat had started a tea shop and came in touch with Tiwari who studies at a private university in Noida. Tiwari visited Bharat’s stall regularly and the two became friends.

Bharath planned revenge on Mr Sharma and the other accused also came on board, according to the police.

On Sunday, the trio reached Mr Sharma’s residence and they discussed the matter, during which an argument broke out and Mr Sharma allegedly slapped Seema after which the three got together and slit his throat, the police said.

Noida:

The Noida Police has lodged an FIR on charges of forgery against a man in connection with the rape and murder of a girl by his son seven years ago, officials said on Wednesday.

It has also booked the principal of a private school in Kanpur Dehat for helping him with the forged mark sheets for his son, they said.

The father is accused of producing fabricated school mark sheets in the court to claim that his son, accused of rape, was a juvenile at the time of the crime, they said.

They are accused of misleading the court by showing the son’s age as 17 at the time of the crime while he was actually 19, as claimed by the mother of the victim, an order issued by Juvenile Justice Board principal magistrate Divykant Singh Rathore read.

The case pertains to the rape and murder of a 17-year-old girl at her rented accommodation in Greater Noida in 2016 by her cousin, who lived in Mandavali area of Delhi.

An FIR in the matter was registered on October 9 at the local Phase 2 Police Station after an order from the Juvenile Justice Board member Arun Kumar Gupta.

“The man has connived with the principal of a school in Kanpur Dehat district and produced forged and fabricated educational documents for his son which were produced in the court to declare that his son was juvenile at the time of the incident,” the JJB member noted in his October 4 order meant for the local police.

“In this situation, the crime committed by the father of the accused is punishable under Indian Penal Code sections 465 and 468 and fall under cognizable offence category,” Gupta noted, directing the police to lodge an FIR against the man.

Vindhyachal Tiwari, the Phase 2 Police Station in-charge, said an FIR in the matter has been filed under IPC 465, 468, and 471– all pertaining to forgery of documents.

“Police teams are working to arrest the accused. The accused were not found at the residential address but searches are underway to ensure their early arrest,” Vindhyachal Tiwari told PTI on Wednesday.
