The police took passports of the tourists and they were stopped from going back.

Five tourists on a Ryanair flight from England to Spain were escorted off by the police when it landed in Tenerife because of their inappropriate and disruptive behaviour. A report in express.co.uk said that the incident took place on May 16 on flight number FR4346. The three males and two female passengers caused nightmare for other fellow passengers who complained to the crew. The outlet further said that the five tourists were not sitting together but sitting close to each other on the plane.

The male passengers allegedly started creating issues shortly after the plane took off by opening a duty-free liquor bottle and drinking straight from it.

As per accounts given by other passengers, the crew members warned the group but it didn’t have any effect, the express.co.uk report said.

The group kept sharing the drinks and misbehaving with fellow passengers. Some passengers claimed they engaged in inappropriate sexual behaviour despite the presence of children on the plane.

Finally, the pilot had to intervene, telling the unruly passengers that they risk grounding the flight and getting evicted from the plane.

When the flight landed at its destination, the pilot called the Spanish police and the cops arrived to meet the rowdy passengers.

The police took their passports and told them they won’t be able to travel back to England on a Ryanair flight.

The group was taken away by the police for questioning, the outlet further said.

In a statement, Ryanair said, “The crew of this flight from Liverpool to Tenerife (16 May) called ahead for police assistance after a small number of passengers became disruptive onboard. The aircraft was met by local police upon arrival at Tenerife and these passengers were removed. This is now a matter for local police.”

The woman filed a suit against the airline and asked for $33,595 in compensation.

Ryanair has been ordered to pay $33,000 (approximately Rs 27 lakh) to a passenger after she broke her leg in two places while stepping off the plane,  El Periodico reported.

The unnamed woman was flying with the Irish budget airline from Seville to Alicante in Spain to meet her newborn grandson in February 2020, when the incident happened. The woman fell while exiting the aircraft, rolling all the way down the staircase from the second step, the Spanish newspaper reported.

The woman was taken to hospital for surgery, she had broken her tibia and fibula. She was hospitalised for three days.

The woman filed a suit against the airline and asked for $33,595 in compensation.

As per El Periodico, the judge at the Commercial Court of Seville said that Ryanair plane’s staircase “was especially narrow and steep.”

Another report from Europa Press said that the woman received slightly less than the requested money as the compensation for accommodation and pharmacy expenses was rejected.

Following the attack, Mr O’Leary appeared unfazed.

Ryanair chief executive Michael O’Leary was hit with a pie in the face by environmental protesters in Brussels on Thursday. According to the BBC, the airline chief was preparing to speak outside European Union headquarters when two female protesters dressed in black smeared him with two cream pies.

A video going viral online captured the exact moment of the incident. “Stop the pollution,” shouted one of the women just before she smashed Mr O’Leary in the face. “Welcome in Belgium,” said another while hitting the airline chief in the back of the head with another pie.

Watch the video below:

At the end of the video, while both of the women were seen walking away after the attack, Mr O’Leary appeared unfazed. “Well done,” he responded before wiping cream from his face and continuing with the planned press briefing.

Following the incident, Ryanair’s official account jokingly wrote on X (formerly Twitter) that Mr O’Leary had received a “warm welcome in Brussels”. “Passengers so happy with our routes and petition that they’re celebrating with cake,” the post read.

“Instead of buying cream pies, could have bought a flight from Belgium for the same price,” the airline wrote in a subsequent post.

According to the BBC, Mr O’Leary was set to speak to the media about a petition he was presenting to Ursula Von Der Leyen, the president of the European Commission. “My only complaint was that the cream was artificial and not tasty,” the airline chief later joked at a news conference.

Meanwhile, according to The Guardian, the activists’ pie protest came as Ryanair pilots in Belgium announced a new strike on September 14 and 15 – their fourth stoppage in two months – over pay and working conditions. Mr O’Leary was outside EU headquarters reportedly with 1.5 million signatures demanding that flights be allowed to cross French airspace during air traffic control strikes there.
