The 55-year-old CEO then turned himself in to police on August 13.

The CEO of a private equity firm in the US has been arrested for allegedly strangling a 15-year-old boy who splashed a woman with water at an In-N-Out restaurant. According to The Independent, the incident took place on August 4. Lucas Kalisher, the 55-year-old CEO of Summit Source Funding LLC, was taken into custody by the Loveland Police Department (LPD) after he attacked the teenager and tossed him onto the floor of the restaurant. The boy had accidentally spilled water on the man’s wife while he was messing around with his friends, cops said.

“The juvenile male approached her table to apologize when an adult male accompanying the woman suddenly grabbed him, placed both hands around the front and back of his neck, pulled him down to the table and threw him backward onto the floor,” Loveland police said in an arrest report, per The Independent

Witnesses at the In-N-Out Burger watched the incident in shock. In a video posted on Facebook, one witness can be heard objecting, noting that the older and larger man was “picking on a kid”.

According to cops, the man and his wife left the restaurant before police arrived at the scene. However, witnesses identified the man, following which police issued a no-bond arrest warrant. The 55-year-old CEO then turned himself in to police on August 13.

Mr Kalisher has now been charged with a felony, second-degree strangulation, and a misdemeanour count of child abuse, the outlet reported. He was arraigned on Wednesday.

Notably, since the incident, Mr Kalisher has removed his Facebook profile and his LinkedIn page. In a statement, the LPD expressed gratitude to the public following the incident, as eyewitnesses provided critical details leading to the CEO’s identification.

“The Loveland Police Department is very appreciative of the assistance we received from the community during this investigation. This is a perfect illustration of our new Vision Statement: ONE Community, ONE Police Department, ONE Team,” Chief Tim Doran said, per the LPD’s release.

A 43-year-old man in the United States has been arrested for allegedly pointing a gun at a 6-year-old boy over Halloween candy. According to NBC News, the incident occurred on Saturday in New York. Michael Yifan Wen was arrested and charged with menacing and second-degree endangering the welfare of a child, Nassau County police said in a statement.

The incident began when a mother drove her daughter, two sons, and a nephew to a nearby residence to drop off a goody bag. Her 10-year-old daughter and 6-year-old son rang the doorbell and dropped off a Halloween goody bag on the porch for the girl’s friend. However, when the children returned to the car, the girl told her mother the address may have been incorrect, so they drove back, and the boy went to the porch to get the bag full of candy.

This is when the man opened the door and pointed a handgun at the boy’s head, the outlet reported. The Nassau County Police Department were immediately notified of the incident and the 43-year-old suspect was arrested.

Mr Wen’s attorney, however, said that his client is presumed innocent. “These are just allegations,” the lawyer said. He also asked the public to refrain from jumping to conclusions “before the facts come out”.

According to ABC News, the investigation into the incident is currently ongoing.

Meanwhile, this comes amid a time when US is reeling under the uncontrolled and widespread use of guns across the country which has resulted in the deaths of thousands of innocent civilians over the years. The country has recorded over 500 mass shootings this year, according to the Gun Violence Archive (GVA), a non-governmental organization that defines a mass shooting as four or more people wounded or killed.

Notably, the recent shooting in Maine left 18 dead. This attack was the deadliest mass shooting in 2023 so far, according to the GVA’s data.

Ms Runions is in custody on a $1.5 million bond. (Representative pic)

A 25-year-old woman in the United States is under arrest for fatally shooting a 4-year-old girl on Sunday while demonstrating gun safety. According to a press release by the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI), the woman, identified as Breanna Runions, was charged with murder and aggravated child abuse in relation to the death of Evangeline Gunter.

During an investigation, authorities determined that Ms Runions caused the injuries that led to the girl’s death. As per the New York Post, at the time of arrest, she told the officials that she was trying to demonstrate gun safety when she pulled the trigger.

However, Ms Runions statement was contradicted by her girlfriend and a 7-year-old who were present at the scene. According to their statement, Ms Runions punished the two children for not waking up the adults and eating food that belonged to her girlfriend. They reportedly told the cops that she then hit both the children with a sandal and made them stand in different corners of the bedroom, where the adults slept.

Following this, Ms Runions then summoned the 4-year-old to show her “firearm safety”. At this point, she pressed the barrel of the gun into the front of the child’s torso and pulled the trigger, the outlet reported.

Shortly afterwards, the 25-year-old and her girlfriend rushed the little girl to the hospital, but she was pronounced dead at Roane Medical Center, officials said.

Ms Runions’ girlfriend was present in the room but did not see the shooting because she was looking away, as per authorities. They also stated that the suspect “may have initially led the investigation to believe that she was demonstrating to the scared 4-year-old ‘firearms safety'”.

On the other hand, the girl’s mother, Josie Gunter, reportedly said that the little girl lived at the house because of a court order and was only supposed to be there for two more months. “I feel like it’s my fault that I let her be there. I should have been more attentive,” she said. “I wish I could have been a better mother for her, to pay attention,” the mother added.

The case is currently under investigation. For now, Ms Runions is in custody on a $1.5 million bond.
