Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday dedicated to the nation the Rs 5,400-crore Phase 1 of the state-of-the art India International Convention and Expo Centre (IICC) — ‘Yashobhoomi’ — at Dwarka, here.

With a total project area of over 8.9 lakh square metres and built-up area of more than 1.8 lakh square metres, ‘Yashobhoomi’ will find its place among the world’s largest MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) facilities.

‘Yashobhoomi’ boasts of a magnificent convention centre, multiple exhibition halls and other facilities.

The convention centre, built across more than 73,000 square metres, comprises 15 convention rooms, including the main auditorium, the grand ballroom and 13 meeting rooms with a total capacity of holding 11,000 delegates.

The convention centre has the largest LED media facade in the country. The plenary hall in the convention centre has the seating capacity of around 6,000 guests.

The auditorium has an innovative automated seating system which converts the flat floor into an auditorium style tiered seating for different seating configurations.

The Grand Ballroom can host around 2,500 guests. It also has an extended open area with seating capacity of up to 500 people.

The 13 meeting rooms that are spread across eight floors are envisaged to hold a variety of meetings of different scales.

‘Yashobhoomi’ will also be connected to Delhi Airport Metro Express line with the inauguration of the new metro station ‘Yashobhoomi Dwarka Sector 25’.

Delhi Metro will also increase the operational speed of Metro trains on Airport Express Line from 90 to 120 kilometre per hour reducing the travel time. The total journey from ‘New Delhi’ to ‘Yashobhoomi Dwarka Sector 25’ will take about 21 minutes.

The Delhi Traffic Police has issued traffic advisory for Sunday, September 17, in view of the inauguration of YashoBhoomi or the India International Convention and Expo Centre (IICEC) by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

YashoBhoomi is located in Dwarka’s Sector 25 and is among the world’s largest MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) facilities.

The Delhi Traffic Police, in a tweet, said that special traffic arrangements will be made for the inauguration of the new facility. The police suggested alternative routes to commuters to avoid inconvenience.

“In view of the inauguration of The India International Convention & Expo Centre (IICEC) by the Hon’ble PM Shri Narendra Modi on 17.09.2023, special traffic arrangements will be effective,” the advisory read.

According to the advisory, the route from NH-48 to Nirmal Dham Nala (UER-II) will be affected during the whole day on Sunday. Commuters are advised to avoid the route and take other roads.

Commuters going towards NH-48 from Najafgarh can take the Bijwasan Najafgarh Road. Those headed towards NH-48 through UER-II from Najafgarh/Dwarka are advised to take a left turn from Dhulsiras Chowk towards Dwarka Sector 23 and can use Road number 224.

To reach Dwarka from Gurugram, commuters can take Dhulsiras Road towards Bamnoli Village and can use Najafgarh Bijwasan road. The residents of Dwarka Sub-city and West Delhi can take Palam Flyover to reach their destinations.

“In order to minimise problems, general public are advised to plan their journey in advance,” the traffic police said.

YashoBhoomi is a world class convention centre having a total area of 8.9 lakh square metre. The facility has 15 convention rooms, which include the main auditorium that can accommodate 6,000 people. It also has a grand ballroom with seating capacity of 2,500 guests while an extended open area can host another 500 people.

The convention centre, also called India International Convention and Expo Centre, has 15 convention rooms, which includes the main auditorium, the Grand Ballroom, and 13 meeting rooms that can hold up to 11,000 delegates at once.

Inside the main auditorium, there is seating arrangement for 6,000 guests. The seating system is automated which allows the floor to be a flat floor or an auditorium style tiered seating. The interior has been given premium finish with wooden floors and acoustic wall panels.

The Grand Ballroom features a petal ceiling and can host about 2,500 delegates. The extended open area offers more space for around 500 guests. The 13 meeting rooms are spread across eight floors and will be used to hold meetings on different occasions.

The exhibition hall in YashoBhoomi is one of the world’s largest halls. It is built on an area of more than 1.07 lakh square meters and will witness everything from business events and trade fairs to exhibitions of different kinds. There is a foyer that will have media rooms, cloak facilities, VVIP lounges, visitor information centre, among others.

YashoBhoomi’s designs has elements of Indian culture such as terrazzo floors with brass inlay representing rangolis patterns, lit up pattered walls, and suspended sound absorbent metal cylinders.

The facilitate travel to the MICE facility, YashoBhoomi will be connected to the Delhi Airport Metro Express line on the day of the inauguration of the new Metro station at Dwarka Sector 25.
